Warranty & refund policy
Warranty & Refund Policy
We want you to be confident in every tyre we sell and every job we do. This page explains what's covered, how returns and cancellations work, and how to make a claim — on top of the rights you already have under Australian law.
Your rights under Australian Consumer Law
Regardless of anything else on this page, our goods and services come with consumer guarantees under the Australian Consumer Law that cannot be excluded, restricted or replaced. These rights apply automatically and last for as long as is reasonable for the type of product or service. You don't need the original receipt — your order confirmation, a bank statement or other reasonable proof of purchase is fine, as long as it shows you bought from us.
Required consumer-law statement
Our goods come with guarantees that cannot be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law. You are entitled to a replacement or refund for a major failure and compensation for any other reasonably foreseeable loss or damage. You are also entitled to have the goods repaired or replaced if the goods fail to be of acceptable quality and the failure does not amount to a major failure.
Our services come with guarantees that cannot be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law. For major failures with the service, you are entitled to cancel your service contract with us and to a refund for the unused portion, or to compensation for its reduced value. If a failure with the service does not amount to a major failure, you are entitled to have problems with the service rectified in a reasonable time and, if this is not done, to cancel your contract and obtain a refund for the unused portion of the contract.
Our tyre warranty
Every tyre carries its manufacturer's warranty against defects in materials and workmanship. Where a tyre has a tread-life (kilometre) warranty, it's as stated on the product page and applies under the manufacturer's conditions. If a tyre you bought from us turns out to have a manufacturing fault, here's how we handle it — on top of your consumer guarantee rights above:
≤ 10%
Worn 10% or less
We replace it free of charge, including re-fitting.
Pro-rata
Worn more than 10%
You pay the same percentage as the tyre's wear and we cover the rest — e.g. 40% worn means you pay 40%, we cover 60%.
7 days
Condition on receipt
Concerns about a tyre's condition when you receive it (rather than a fault that appears later) must be reported within 7 days of fitting or pick up.
See the exclusions below — they never limit your rights under the Australian Consumer Law.
Our workmanship warranty
Fitting, wheel balancing, tyre rotation and puncture repairs we carry out are covered by our workmanship warranty from the date of service.
What's covered
Faults caused by our workmanship — for example, a wheel weight coming loose, a balance that wasn't done correctly, or a puncture repair that fails because of how it was carried out. We fix it at no charge.
What's not covered
Damage from road hazards (potholes, kerbing, debris), incorrect tyre pressures, accident damage, normal wear and tear, or work carried out or altered by someone else after you've left the store.
Returns, cancellations and refunds
These terms cover change-of-mind returns and cancellations. If a product or our work is faulty, that's covered by the warranties and your consumer guarantees above instead — none of which are affected by this section.
- Unfitted products in new, unused condition can be returned for change of mind within 14 days of the invoice date. Tyres that have been fitted or driven on can't be returned for change of mind.
- Cancelling an order, or returning a product for change of mind, may incur a restocking fee of 25–40% of the order value.
- Special-order tyres and products can't be returned for change of mind.
- Refunds go back to the card you paid with. Allow a few business days for your bank to process it.
- To change or cancel a fitting booking (without cancelling the order), use your account or the link in your confirmation email up to 2 hours before — or call the store.
On-road legality
Changing the wheels or tyres fitted to your vehicle can affect its compliance and roadworthiness. Before any modification, it's the vehicle owner's responsibility to check with the relevant road authority that the change is permitted. Our team is glad to advise on fitment and compatibility, but Nova Tyres isn't responsible for registration or legal issues arising from a wheel and tyre combination the owner has chosen.
Warranty exclusions
The tyre warranty doesn't cover a tyre that becomes defective as a result of:
- Road hazard damage, such as impact damage or a puncture, whether repairable or not
- Incorrect mounting of the tyre by someone other than us
- Improper storage of the tyre
- Mechanical irregularities in the vehicle — including wheel/tyre imbalance or misalignment — that cause uneven or rapid wear
- Fitting to, or use with, incompatible or improper valves, rims or wheels
- Use on a vehicle carrying loads or running at speeds higher than recommended for that vehicle
- Fitting or use that doesn't follow the manufacturer's published technical recommendations
- Accident, fire, chemical exposure or explosion, tyre alteration (such as retreading), or vandalism
- Climatic effects, such as damage from salt water or sand
- Running the tyre under-inflated or over-inflated
These exclusions never limit your rights under the Australian Consumer Law.
How to make a warranty claim
Have this ready
- Your order number (e.g. NT-100123), if you have it
- Your name, email address and phone number
- The number of tyres affected
- A description of the fault
- Your receipt or invoice, and clear photos of the fault
- 1Send your claim with the claim form on this page, email info@novatyres.com.au, or bring the tyre to the store you bought from.
- 2We review your claim and reply with an outcome within 5 working days. If we need to inspect the tyre, we'll arrange a time with you.
- 3If it's confirmed as a manufacturing fault, we arrange a replacement — including re-fitting at no extra charge — or a refund for the faulty tyre(s), in line with the terms above.
We can't progress a claim if the tyres have been worked on by another tyre or vehicle specialist, or if they're no longer in your possession — we need to be able to inspect the tyre itself.
